Digitize and copy parts into 3D for (relative) cheap.

Have you ever wanted to copy that water pump on your ‘89 GTI or how about a complete rotary engine for when it goes boom? Well it’s actually easier, and cheaper, than you think. The NextEngine 3D Scanner HD is small, somewhat portable compared to large units and at a tick under 3K, makes it affordable if you’re serious about turning 3D CAD modeling into actual parts.

With no preset size limit the 3D Scanner HD can scan most any part you can think of with a macro mode and wide mode, making the best possible use out of its twin array of four solid state lasers. If you have parts that are no longer made or are expensive, this could be an alternate route to getting said part.

All of the geeky specs and information is available on their site along with some videos of it in action.
